Oak Hills Community Connections Board authorized $4 million campaign
Building Plans Finalized for a collaborative space
Formulation of an OHCC Steering Committee to lead the charge

Project Updates:

The Oak Hill Community Connections project is a collaborative space designed to house non-profit human service agencies and organizations that provide emotional, financial, and spiritual support to those in need.

Dom Korbel, Executive Director of Community Pathways shared his excitement about partnering with OHCC, “Community Pathways is beyond excited to be part of this project. Every day we serve individuals and families who are so close to turning their lives in a more positive direction after we provide stability in food and clothing. However, one of the challenges that they still face is the ability to access additional services to take that next step. Oak Hill Community Connections is exactly the partner we need to help families in ways where we are not experts. This collaboration is a huge step in creating change for those all of us serve in ways that no one can do alone.”

Using a shared-facility model, Oak Hill Community Connections will provide short-term housing with strong co-located wrap-around services to help individuals and families with stability and education to regain their independence. Coming together under one roof will allow for greater collaboration between providers as well as reduce the operational costs due to the shared facility and financial efficiencies it will create. Oak Hill Community Connections will narrow the gap between services offered and the people who need them

This project brings together many existing organizations that are currently providing resources in our community. Initial collaborative partners include Community Pathways Health Finders Collaborative Hospitality House Rachel’s Light South Central Human Relations Center.

Oak Hill Community Connections (IOHCC) is also pleased to announce the formation of a steering committee dedicated to managing the campaign to support this project. Donations will be used to fund the design and remodel of the space for new and existing supportive housing organizations that serve families, women, and children.

Campaign co-chairs Mike and Nancy Keller are among many community leaders championing this project, “The need for social services is growing. For one agency at a time to try to impact all the needs is difficult. To bring these agencies to a place where they are working together will increase efficiencies of the delivery of services. Oak Hill Community Connections will provide a central location for people who don’t know where to go and will help them get services more quickly.”

Campaign Steering Team Drs. Brian and Kari Bunkers (co-chairs) Mike and Nancy Keller (co-chairs) Rev. Todd Buegler Gregg Draeger Jason Eyberg Ryan Gillespie Stacy Hanson Matthew Jessop Matt Kottke Jolayne Mohs April Paxton Julie Rethemeir Kim Schaufenbuel.

The community is invited to partner with OHCC to make this dream a reality. The Oak Hill Community Connections Board has authorized a $4 million campaign for the renovation of the newly acquired building located at 134 Southview Street, Owatonna, MN. Gifts of all sizes will be sought from individuals, businesses, foundations and a variety of grant funding sources

Jolayne Mohs, President of the OHCC Board shared, “As a community, I believe it is our responsibility to help take care of each other, no one should have to get through life alone. Oak Hill Community Connection will reduce barriers to access a wide variety of support so each person or family can improve their health and wellness, learn and rebuild skills and build relationships with each other. This in turn will make us a healthier, better, and stronger community.

We encourage you to reach out to OHCC for an interview and /or tour of our space to learn more about the project, building renovation and campaign and to help share this information with our community.

The target date for opening the Oak Hill Community Connections is Fall of 2025.
